Love her or hate her, she's breaking world records and Lady GaGa just doesn't give a f*ck. 


While I may not understand the meat dress or her insistence that Jesus is from New York City, it's pretty damn hard to deny how fab she is.

AFW 2011

Alberta Fashion Week is here!  

AFW 2011 takes place May 16-21 and is being held at the Nat Christie Centre, the home of the Alberta Ballet company. We pre-viewed the venue this past Monday, and I think it will be gorgeous. Think Black Swan ballet bars and mirrors minus Mila/Natalie.  I'm most excited to scope Apt. 22's summer pieces, as well as the featured designer Lilly Maks O'brien's ethnic inspired designs.

AS WELL, the wonderful Kim Flanagan is hosting the Opening Night!  Don't miss it!

It rained today, and I discovered black tea with honey.  Life changing.

Finally.  Wedding dresses I would die to wear.  

I would fall asleep, dream of and wake up with a incessant rotation of boring dresses stuck in my head...so for my sanity, I stopped looking altogether.
Wedding dresses/Bridal Shops/Say Yes To The Dress = What nightmares are made of.  

Then along came Marchesa.  Each dress is so detailed and delicate and dreamy...

And SO un-wedding dress-like.  

I have fallen in love.  Over and over and over and over...

Dust and Sunshine

I have spent the day drinking mass amounts of tea and hanging with my d-o-g Bentley...the last few days have been pretty mucky outside, so Bentley smells like dust and sunshine.  I am madly in love with him!  

Our house is pretty eclectic...when I decided to paint our walls black, my almost-mother-in-law looked at me as if I were crazy, but was too polite to say so.  The end result is actually quite pretty and suits us just perfectly.  Who wants beige walls!? 

I am posting a few of the many things I love in our home...from my mass sequin dress collection to my Grandmother's Book Of Mormon with her beautiful handwritten notes...

Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler...

Today is my last day working in an office.  I have decided to move forward and work surrounding myself in what I love.  Fashion!  A couple months ago, while standing over the photocopier at my office, I realized I hated my life.  Not my 'real' day to day life, but my 'working' life.  The monotony of scanning documents, fetching waters and booking executive class flights for my 3 bosses had left me feeling terribly bored and completely uninspired.  I have spent my entire adult working life at a desk, avoiding awkward lunchroom small talk and sitting through boring office meetings.  I just accepted, like most contributing members of society that this is just what you gotta do to pay your bills.  However, a wonderful opportunity randomly fell into my lap and I snatched it up!  I was ready for a change and the stability of getting married also contributes to me being able to make a move into a job with perhaps a little less stability.  I know Avi has my back and won't let me end up living in a cardboard box.  If my game plan doesn't work out.  Which it will. 

Because it's fabulous!
